Establishing the Connection

In Module 03 you learned that AI systems can be developed in two ways: through machine learning and/or through knowledge-based AI.

In Modules 05 and 06 we explored the three fundamental ways that machines can learn, and we learned that machine learning essentially involves three approaches: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning.

This module focuses on Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Machines can learn to perform a task through Artificial Neural Networks, and in this module we will see how that works.

We will also learn that Deep Learning is a subfield of machine learning that includes techniques allowing machines to learn through deep Artificial Neural Networks (deep artificial neural networks) can learn.
