    In this module, you will discuss what "artificial intelligence" and "artificial intelligence systems" are.

    Artificial intelligence is regularly ranked as the most interesting and fastest-growing field. Private investment in the field of AI has also increased over the years. Technology leaders and AI experts around the world emphasize the importance and potential impact of AI systems. Recent research has shown the positive impact of AI systems on employee productivity and quality of work. Nevertheless, 60% of employees are concerned that they could lose their jobs altogether to AI systems. But what exactly is “artificial intelligence”? And what are artificial intelligence systems? In this module, we examine different definitions and perspectives of AI, understand what constitutes an AI system, and explore different application areas and AI techniques.

    • know and discuss different definitions of AI.
    • state indicators for AI systems and explain what distinguishes AI systems from conventional algorithms from a technical point of view.
    • distinguish between “knowledge-based AI” and “machine learning” techniques, describe how each technique solves problems, and give typical application examples.
